Our story
Maison Charlee is above all a story of a couple, of creativity and of passion.
We have shared our lives and our projects for many years. Both from the restaurant world, she as a caterer and he as a restaurateur, we have always loved to create, imagine and build together.
Like many seasonal professionals, winter gave us time to explore other worlds. So we developed an artistic activity around concrete, light and plants. We made decorative objects, lights, contemporary creations and one-off pieces inspired by nature and raw materials.
It was then that a creation came along that would change our path: the dragon eggs.
Inside these decorative pieces, we were already using what is now called candle sand, or powdered candle wax.
At our exhibitions, this unusual material immediately caught people’s attention. Visitors regularly asked us what it was, how it worked and where they could buy it.
Seeing this growing interest, the idea of Maison Charlee began to take shape.
Over the years, the idea stayed at the back of our minds. Then came the wish to create a brand that reflects who we are: elegant, simple, warm and sustainable.
And so Maison Charlee was born.
We wanted to put candle sand back at the heart of the experience, by modernising it and pairing it with quality fragrances. To do this, we chose to have our fragrances developed in Grasse, the world capital of perfume, to offer a scent experience that lives up to our standards.
Today, every Maison Charlee creation is designed the way we have always imagined our projects: with care, authenticity and attention to detail.
More than just a candle, Maison Charlee is the result of years of creation, experimentation and shared passion.
